For option 5 the "units" tag in a hyperlink or
a hidden field in a form is necessary to send the information to the cart to utilize
this shipping option. This is one of those options where "creativity" again
comes into play. There are many ways to set this option up. Let your imagination be your
guide. You can use weight (pounds, ounces, grams, kilos, tons, etc.) or area (cubic
inches, feet, yards) or again you can tic the box and ship by value based upon how you set
up your units tag.
Let's use ounces or pounds for an example. The zone names
can be whatever you need and choose. Local, county, state and so forth. If your products
are lightweight (oz), you can set the units in the zones in 16oz (1 pound) increments with
a $1.00 increase for each additional pound up to 4 pounds and $1.00 for everything over 4
pounds.
In this case if you sold bracelets that weighed 1 ounce
each, the customer could purchase 16 of them for a shipping charge of $3.95. The 17th to
the 32nd bracelet would add $1.00 more to the shipping charge and so forth.
Note that the customer could order one ton of bracelets
with a maximum shipping charge of $7.95. If your profit margin was high enough, you
probably wouldn't care as that would be 32,000 bracelets. More than you've sold in the
last five years. I've only illustrated one zone, because I know you've looked at option 4
and the principle remains the same.
